    Tubular, tangerine-ruby flowers on a rapidly growing, semi-evergreen vine that flowers in spring and summer.  Good for trellis or trained on a fence.  Zone 6

    B. capreolata var. atrosanguinea \ Red Crossvine

    Fast growing, self-clinging, semi-evergreen to evergreen vine, growing 30-50’.  Trumpet shaped flowers are solid red to reddish burgundy.  Handsome foliage and flowers are the principal ornamental features.  Zone 6.

    Climbing deciduous vine with showy, rich yellow flowers.  Late summer bloomer.  Needs fertile soil and full sun.  Zone 4.

     

    Campsis radicans ‘Minnesota Red’ \ Trumpet Vine

    Large, deep-red flowers bloom all summer over lusterous dark green leaves. Any type soil in full sun. Vine reaches 30-40' in length. Zones 4-9. Deciduous in zone 4, semi-evergreen to evergreen in Zone 9.

     

    Campsis x tagliabuana ‘Madame Galen’ \ Trumpet Vine

    µTexas Nativeµ   Deciduous vine with compound leaves bearing profuse, salmon-red flowers.  Forms a quick summer screen.  Will take full sun.  Zone 5.

     

    Clematis

    Few vines can compare with the sensational blooms in almost all colors of the rainbow.  They can be effectively used on arbors or fences.  Clematis will be happy in most soils where their blooms get full sun, but their roots stay shaded.  Feathery seed pods are grand in arrangements.  Zone 4 unless otherwise indicated.

    C. armandii ‘Snowdrift’

    Clusters of white, vanilla-scented flowers, 1˝ -2"  wide, bloom in early spring. Performs best in well-drained soil. Grows 20-30’. Prune weak or dead stems after blooming. This variety blooms on growth produced the previous year.

    C. ‘Candida’

    White, 7-9” wide flowers have yellow anthers.  Many sepals give the look of double flowers on this 10-15’ plant.  Zone 6.

    C. ‘Ernest Markham’

    Rose-red flowers are 4-5” across, displaying color from mid to late summer.  Vine grows 10-12’.

    Eye-catching blooms from June to frost.  Enormous deep purple flowers, 8-9” across.  Grows 8-12’ tall.

    Vigorous evergreen vine that clings closely to any surface.  Small green leaves grow to form a mat.  Covers exposed areas.  Can be tender, use in protected areas.  Also can be used for topiary.  Prefers partial shade.  Zone 8.

    Grow in full sun or light shade.  Most need average summer water once established.  Vines are valued for their fragrant tubular flowers and are great hummingbird attractors

    L. fragrantissima \ Winter Honeysuckle

    Deciduous or semi-evergreen bushy, spreading shrub.  Bears oval, dark green leaves.  Fragrant, short tubed creamy white flowers open in winter and early spring.  Height 6’, spread 12’.  Zones 4-8.

    L. japonica ‘Halliana’ \ Hall’s Honeysuckle

    Semi-evergreen 1Ľ-3” leaves.  Fast growing vine.  Will attach itself to any surface.  Fragrant white blooms turn yellow at maturity.  Mature height 1-2’.  Drought and salt tolerant.  Adapts to a wide range of soil conditions.  Prune back heavy in spring.  Zone 4-9.

    L. japonica ‘Purpurea’ \ Purple Honeysuckle

    Fast growing evergreen vine. Underside of leaves and flowers are purple. Good for erosion control. Fragrant flowers. Zone 4.

    L. x heckrottii ‘Goldflame’ \ Honeysuckle

    Spreading deciduous shrub or vine with dark green leaves provide a background for the beautiful yellow and red flowers.  Zone 5.

    This deciduous shrub is a rapid-grower, with rose red flowers, reaches heights of 8-10'.  Summer bloomer does best in well-drained soil and full sun.  Zones 4-10.

    Good for fences or espaliers.  Yellow clusters of orchid-like flowers bloom all spring and summer, resulting in seed pods shaped like butterflies.  Very heat tolerant.  Full sun to part shade.  Fast growth rate to 10-12’ and root hardy to Zone 7b.

     

    Millettia reticulata \ Evergreen Wisteria

    Woody, semi-hardy twining vine that is a fast grower.  Deep wine, pea-shaped flowers bloom profusely from spring to summer.  Prefers full sun, moist fertile, well-drained and slightly acidic soil.  Zones 8-10.

    Smaller leafed than the species, having same fall color impact of crimson-red. Summer blooms are greenish-white, that produce bluish-black berries in the fall. Deciduous, fast grower, clinging vine, 30-50’.  Adaptable, full sun to shade. Salt tolerant. Average moist, well-drained, soil.  Zones 3-9.

    P. tricuspidata ‘Lowii’ \ Dwarf Boston Ivy

    Vigorous, deciduous vine with smaller leaves than species.  Slower or more restrained and not as dense.  Metallic blue berries in the fall.  Bright green leaves tinged in purple give the effect of red fall color.  Zone 5.

    P. tricuspidata ‘Veitchii’ \ Boston Ivy

    Maple-like leaves are small, dark purple when young.  ‘Veitchii’ has a close clinging growth habit and displays scarlet fall color.  Sun to part shade.  Zone 5.

    Semi-woody climber, leaves have 5-9 deep lobes.  Vigorous evergreen to 20’ in height.  Large, showy, exotic pink and purple flowers that appear in late spring and continue through the summer.  Plant in well-drained soil and full sun to part shade.  Zone 7.

    P. caerulea ‘Constance Elliot’

    Showy, exotic vine with pure white flowers that appear in summer.  Semi-woody climber, leaves have 5-9 deep lobes.  Vigorous ever-green to 20'.  Plant in well-drained soil providing full sun to part shade.  Zone 7.

    P. coccinea \ Red Passion Flower

    Vigorous tendril climber with woody stems and evergreen leaves.  Blooms from spring to autumn.  Large, very showy flowers are deep scarlet with red, pink and white corona of filaments.  Heights can reach 10-12’.  Zones 10-11.

    P. incarnata \ May Pop

    µTexas Nativeµ   Vine that climbs to about 30’ high.  Leaves are deeply 3 lobed, 3˝-6” long, with occasionally sparse short hairs on top of the leaf.  Flowers are purplish-pink, 1-3” wide, flat and solitary in the leaf axils.  Will tolerate dry soil.  Plant in full sun or part shade.  Blooms all summer.  Dies back in winter, rejuvenates in spring.  Zone 7.

     

    Polygonum aubertii \ Silver Lace Vine

    This rapid growing vine has small, creamy-white flowers that bloom from late spring to fall.  Glossy, heart-shaped leaves are 1˝-2˝” long with wavy edges.  Needs full sun and deep watering on monthly basis.  Useful as a fast growing screen.  Zone 4.

    Semi-evergreen climber to 20’. Profuse blooming with white, double 1” flowers. Excellent for fences or banks. Full sun. Zone 6.

    R. banksiae var. normalis ‘Lutea’ \ Yellow Lady Banks’ Rose

    Semi-evergreen climber to 20’.  Profuse double blooms of canary yellow.  Excellent for fences.  Full sun.  Zone 6.

     

    Trachelospermum

    (tray kell loe SPUR mum)

    The asiaticums are considered dwarf jasmines with a groundcover vining habit.  Evergreen foliage. Non-flowering.  Will grow in alkaline, clay, sand, acidic or loam soils in part shade/part sun.  Does best with rich soil and ample moisture.  Zone 7

    The jasminoides have same cultural traits as asiaticums, but have more of a climbing nature..Evergreen.  Flowering.  Zone 7.

    Dark green 1-2” leaves.  Mature height is 6-24”.  Prune in spring to maintain best appearance.

    T. asiaticum ‘Bronze Beauty’

    Heavily veined in cream and white veins with bronze colored leaves.  Possibly hardier than species.

    T. asiaticum ‘Nana’

    Leaves are only 1/4" wide. Mature height is 2".

    T. asiaticum ‘Variegatum’

    Green-yellowish-white, 1-2” leaves turning burgundy in fall.

    Another hardy form of Confederate Jasmine that blooms fragrant, light creamy yellow, star-shaped flowers. Grows 10-15’ long.

     

    Wisteria frutescens 'Amethyst Falls' \ American Wisteria

    NEWLavender-blue flowers bloom later than oriental types and repeats lightly throughout summer.  More restrained in growth habit than oriental varieties.  Reaches 20-30'.  Sun, partial shade.  Zone 5.

    Wisteria sinensis \ Chinese Wisteria

    Showy, slightly fragrant large violet-blue grape-like flower clusters 8-12” long bloom in early spring.  Grows 25-30’.  Sun.  Zone 5.

    Wisteria sinensis ‘Alba’ \ White Chinese Wisteria
