Adiantum pedatum / American Maidenhair Fern

This fern is deciduous and clump forming.  Grows to 2.5 ft in height and has a spread of 1.5ft.  No flowering.  Needs partial shade to full shade with medium water and low maintenance.  Zones 3-8.

Dennstaedtia punctilobula / Eastern Hay Scented Fern

This a deciduous fern with no bloom.  Grows to 36 in. in height.  Needs partial shade to full shade with average water needs.  This fern is considered a protected species.  Zones 3-8.

Osmunda cinnamomea / Cinnamon Fern

This fern grows to 3 to 5 ft in height and grows in naturally moist habitats.  Thrives in partial shade in a moist, humus rich acidic soil.  But with lots of water can grow in full sun.  Zones 3-10.

Osmunda regalis / Royal Fern

This is a large dramatic fern that grows from a stout rhizome which creeps along the ground.  Has a two kinds of fronds, sterile and fertile.  The leaflets can grow up to 6ft long.  Needs light shade to full shade, likes a moist, water retentive soil.  Zones 3-10.

Polypodium virginianum / American Wall Fern

This is an evergreen fern that grows in creeping clumps.  Grows to 1 ft in height and a spread up to 1 ft.  Needs partial shade to full shade with dry to medium water and low maintenance.  Zones 3-8.

Polystichum acrostichoides / Christmas Fern

This a fern that grows in a fountain like clump.  Grows to 2 ft in height and a spread up to 2 ft.  Needs partial shade to full shade.  Grows in dry to medium water with low maintenance.  Zones 3-9.

Thelypteris palustris / Marsh Fern

This is a deciduous fern.  Grows to 24 in. in  height.  Found in edges of marshes and wet meadows in rich wet soil.  Very common in wet sunny areas.
